To gain Canadian visa for work, study and immigration, candidates are required to demonstrate their English Skills to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)is one of the most popular systems to access the English language of the candidates, with over three million tests taken in the past year.

What IELTS score do you need for Canada visa?

The IELTS scores required may depend upon the requirements of the type of visa you apply and the organization where you plan to study or work in Canada.

IELTS exam would analyze your English proficiency on a scale from 1–9 in four skills:

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking

 

The candidates can opt for two different types of IELTS tests:

  • IELTS Academic
  • IELTS General Training

 

The selection of the type of IELTS test may depend on the requirements set by the organization where you plan to work or study.

IELTS for study in Canada

For the candidates applying to study at a Canadian University, it is mandatory to take an IELTS test, which is acknowledged by more than 350 institutes and universities in Canada.

Post-graduation work permit?

The IRCC has introduced 3 new measures on Post Graduation work permit eligibility for students online. The goal of these changes is to provide more flexibility to the candidates students who need or want to start their Canadian study programmer online abroad.

The three changes include:

  • Study online from abroad until 30 April 2021 and 50% of their programme of study is eventually completed in Canada.
  • Students enrolled in a programme that is between 8 and 12 months in length can to complete their entire programme online from abroad.
  • Students enrolled in a programme and who graduate from more than one eligible program of study are eligible to combine the length of their programs of study.
